Making Friends at Peach Pit

Forgot to take good pics with Zak and left before we could meet the band
so this homemade pic is the best I could do.
Liss on the left and Coop on the right. Niel from Peach Pit in middle.

As we drove home from the Peach Pit concert last Wednesday my friend Zak said to me “you are wayy too good at making friends.” I was flattered to say the least and actually surprised as I looked back on the night and realized the truth in his words.

Our journey started with a 3-hour drive to Minneapolis full of deep conversations, laughing, and jamming out to music. We decided on a Korean BBQ place for dinner and it was possibly the best food either of us had ever had. The place was authentic and called K Bop. After thanking the restaurant profusely we made our way over to the venue.

After getting checked into the line by a bouncer we found ourselves positioned behind a younger hip looking couple. I remember being envious of their style. The gal in front of them left the line momentarily and asked them to hold her spot. I joked to them that they shouldn't let her back in line and from there the conversation took off.

Their names were Elisabeth and Cooper and they were both juniors in college. They asked about our plans for college and we asked about their plans for life. We talked about the band and our favorite songs. I even asked them what their best advice was for me. They said “do weird things” meaning "get out of your comfort zone!" I even started calling them by nicknames (with their permission of course) they became Liss and Coop. We had talked so long that before we knew it we were getting checked in and making our way into the venue. We exchanged snaps and said farewell.

Zak and I took an elevator up to the balcony where we found our seats. Soon after a couple of girls showed up and sat next to us. I started to talk to them a bit, but I could tell they weren’t looking for a conversation. Zak and I inched up closer to the stage where another couple showed up. Soon after I introduced myself. Tate and Sophie were in their 30’s and treated us just like adults. It was sweet. We enjoyed the concert together until we were forced to move back to our actual seats, but not before I got Tate’s number.

The final interaction with our friends from the concert was with Coop and Liss again. We called them on the way home and they told us about meeting the band. Not only that but they invited us to Iowa for homecoming in the circumstance that they can get Peach Pit to play there. The concert was amazing, but I’m sure the best part was meeting new friends.
